365 Days Of Creativity: February Competition

It's finally here the second design brief of twelve we will be releasing this year! These are set directly as part of our 365 Days of Creativity project. Be sure to remember that these creative briefs will be released at the very end of each month. They will set you the task of combining several of the skills, tips and techniques we've demonstrated in the one minute videos featured throughout that month.

Lets introduce Februaries brief and then talk about how to submit your entry.

The Brief:

Design a Winter or Spring themed A5 Postcard

Using a repeat pattern made in Illustrator.

You have creative freedom to decide what elements and colour pallet to use throughout your pattern and wider postcard design.

Techniques/skills to include:

  • Use of a Repeat Pattern somewhere in the overall design.
  • At least one word or phrase which has been Kerned.
  • Be as creative as possible!

Videos which contain these skills:

Helpful hints/

  • Take a look at existing icons/imagery which visualise the idea of either Winter or Spring. Here is a good place start!
  • Consider how many elements you would like to use in your pattern. It could be as few as two.
  • Look at some ways to combine your word/phrase with your pattern in the final design.
  • In need of a few typefaces? Try here or here
  • Need the finishing touch? Download free PSD's here or... you

All you will need is a high res JPG and a few details about yourself. This format means it's easy to find both your own and others designs as well as share your work.

It's important to mention you don't need an account to upload your work so don't worry if you don't have one. The deadline for this months competition is written below.

Please upload your submissions as jpgs, then include your name and a link to your portfolio in the written description. If your feeling a little unsure just check the mock submission we have posted and follow the same format.

Finally and the most important thing...have fun! Our 365 project is all about inspiring creative minds to produce new work and experiment with new techniques. We can't wait to see what you guys come up
with, good luck!

Extended deadline for Februarys competition brief is now the 1/4/18.
Winners will now be announced on the 3/4/18.

We have slightly extended the Deadline for Februarys Competition, so you have just a little longer to create
