5 Composition Rules to follow

1| Use grids

Try to get into the habbit of using grids in your layouts. Creating and knowing how to use Grids in composition is an essential skill for all types of design work including; editorial, poster, branding, print projects and web design. Grids can be invisible but when used they create clear and logical designs!

2| Always align

We love the Align and Distribute panel as it automatically help create consistency in our work and save us a tonne of time. Always align and distribute elements equally for more clean professional design!

3| Colour balance

Use the colour wheel as guide if you have trouble understanding colour! Avoid clashing colours! Use hues that have a high contrast!

4| Use Negative space

You do not need to fill in every single space on your layout. Use negative space to give breathing space to your designs and for hidden details. Logos and wider design work which make good use of negative space appear well thought-out and incredibly professional.

5| Scale elements

Scale is a powerful compositional technique that shows importance of elements! There are several ways to show scale. Once you understand how to use it you will notice the difference it makes to your work immediately!
